The ELC has updated its curriculum and added new course work. Students now have access to brand new Biology, Economics, and Health courses. In addition we have added Integrated Math 1 and 2. All courses meet Oregon Schools and Ohio state standards.

Here is a peek at what is now available:

Biology
The new biology consists of 81 objective-based multimedia lessons over two semesters as well as 20 introductory module lessons. The course covers topics including: organic compounds, cellular structure and function, genetics, DNA, ecology, and human anatomy. The course contains enhancement videos on important and interesting topics such as sex-linked traits and endangered species as well as animations, step-through activities and click-and-play with audio to help break down difficult concepts to enable students to better visualize the material.

Economics
In addition to 61 lessons, the new Economics course offers 18 introductory module lessons. These introductory lessons include Case Studies that examine economic principles in the context of real-life situations.

The course content is based on the Prentice Hall textbook Economics Principles in Action and covers topics in micro- and macroeconomics such as American free enterprise, supply and demand, business and labor, banking and finance, the government and the economy, and international trade.

Health
Health is a semester course based on content from the Prentice Hall Health 2007 textbook. The course contains 16 modules and a corresponding video for each that provides lesson overviews.

Topics include: mental health, social health, nutrition, body systems, substance abuse, human development, and disease prevention. The lessons contain illustrations of body systems, tables, and interactive diagrams to illustrate concepts and processes.

Integrated Math 1 and 2
The new Integrated Math 1 and 2 courses consist of 109 and 91 multimedia lessons respectively. Both courses represent a full-year of content and are divided into two semesters. The Integrated Math courses contain lessons from our Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra 2 courses and are divided into smaller, more digestible sections. Each module contains between three to five lessons.

These courses allow students to explore the relationship and connection between algebra and geometry, while still providing the same content and foundation for continued success in mathematics.
